Overview
Bloomily's assessment system helps you track student progress, share updates with parents, and maintain records of each child's learning journey. This guide covers how to set up and use assessments effectively.
Setting Up Assessment Criteria
Creating Assessment Categories
- Go to Assessments > Settings
- Click Add Category to create assessment areas, such as:
- Academic skills
- Social development
- Physical abilities
- Creative expression
- Behavioral milestones
Defining Criteria
For each category, define specific criteria to evaluate:
- Click on a category
- Click Add Criterion
- Enter the criterion details:
- Name: What you're evaluating (e.g., "Reading comprehension")
- Description: Clear explanation of what this measures
- Scale: Choose a rating system
Rating Scales
Bloomily supports multiple rating formats:

Conducting Assessments
Creating a New Assessment
- Navigate to Assessments > New Assessment
- Select the program and class
- Choose the assessment template or create a custom one
- Set the assessment date
- Optionally add a title (e.g., "Mid-term Progress Review")
Recording Scores
- Open the assessment
- You'll see a list of enrolled students
- For each student:
- Rate each criterion using the selected scale
- Add comments or notes for specific observations
- Attach photos or work samples if applicable
- Click Save to store your progress (you can return to complete it later)
- Click Complete when all students have been assessed
Bulk Assessment
For quick entry:
- Use the grid view to rate multiple students at once
- Tab through fields for fast data entry
- Copy ratings from previous assessments as a starting point
Sharing Assessments with Parents
Publishing Results
- Open a completed assessment
- Click Share with Parents
- Choose sharing options:
- All parents: Share with every parent in the class
- Individual: Share with specific parents only
- Include comments: Toggle whether to show instructor notes
- Click Send
What Parents See
Parents receive:
- A notification in their Bloomily app
- A visual summary of their child's ratings
- Any comments or notes from the instructor
- Comparison with previous assessments (if available)
- Photos or work samples (if attached)
Parent Response
Parents can:
- View the assessment at any time
- Leave comments or questions
- Acknowledge receipt of the assessment
Tracking Progress Over Time
Progress Reports
Bloomily automatically generates progress tracking:
- Timeline view: See how ratings change over time
- Comparison charts: Visual comparison between assessment periods
- Growth indicators: Highlight areas of improvement or concern
- Trend analysis: Identify patterns in student development
Generating Reports
- Go to Assessments > Reports
- Select the student or class
- Choose the time period
- Select report type:
- Individual Student Report: Detailed progress for one student
- Class Overview: Summary of the entire class
- Program Report: Aggregated data across all classes in a program
- Click Generate Report
- Export as PDF or print directly

Using Templates
Save time with reusable assessment templates:
- Go to Assessments > Templates
- Browse existing templates or create your own
- Templates include:
- Pre-defined categories and criteria
- Rating scales
- Standard comments
